Prospective Photographer Information
Icon SMI is always looking for talented and experienced professional photographers interested in regularly photographing sports events on deadline. Icon SMI chooses new photographers based on need in a geographic or metropolitan area or specialization in covering a particular team or sport. If you are interested in working with the most respected agency in the industry we would love to hear from you.
Currently, we are looking for photographers in the following areas:
New York City
Alabama (particularly Tuscaloosa)
Philadelphia
Phoenix
Edmonton
Calgary
Arkansas (Fayetteville)
El Paso
Prospective photographers must possess and be competent with the following:
- Ability to capture, process, caption, and transmit digital images on site during events
- Digital camera bodies and a variety of super telephoto lenses. Approved camera bodies are:
- Canon EOS 5D, 5D Mark II, 30D/40D/50D/60D, the 1D Mk 2/2n/3/4, and 1DS Mk 2/3
- Nikon D2X, D3/s/x and D200/300/300s/700/7000
- Pentax K-5/7
- Olympus E-5
- All medium format backs (eg backs by Phase and Leaf)
- NOT approved Kodak DCSPRO SLR/c & ALL Canon Rebel cameras
- Laptop computer with wireless card and/or ethernet (the latest Mac or PC hardware and systems versions)
- Image editing and captioning software
- Photo Mechanic (preferred)
- FotoStation
- Adobe Photoshop (CS4 or CS5)
- Adobe Lightroom 2
- Adobe Bridge (CS4 or CS5)
- Apple Aperture 2
- Dedicated broadband internet access (cable modem, DSL, or faster)
